FACICP Demands End to FGM for women with disabilities

On February 6th, 2020, FACICP Disability Plus joins the Global community to commemorate the International Day of Zero Tolerance against Female Genital Mutilation (FGM).

Female Genital mutilation (FGM) comprises all procedures that involve partial or total removal of the external female genitalia, or other injury to the female genital organs for non-medical reasons. This has been a very harmful social-cultural practice which the world as whole has honestly frowned at.

The practice has high level psycho-social impact especially on women and girls with disabilities who may require additional support to care for themselves during the traumatic pains cause by the act of their genital mutilation.

The Executive Director FACICP Disability Plus Ms Ekaete Judith Umoh made her statement that, the practice has high level psycho-social impact especially on women and girls with disabilities who may require additional support to care for themselves during the traumatic pains cause by the act of their genital mutilation

FACICP DISABILITY PLUS joins her voice with the rest of the world to say “END FEMALE GENITAL MUTILATION NOW.”
